Cameo woes – I am VICTORIOUS!!!
Welcome back all you crafty cats! I wanted to update you on my Cameo woes…..I made a card!
I made a card for a dear family friend who LOVES flamingos! He really, really loved the card 🙂 I really enjoyed making this on the Cameo. It made it nice to be able to move what I wanted onto the mat and just stick the pieces on the side. I ordered myself the 12 X 24 mat so I will be able to cut all the layers out at once. For my first time cutting out a project it was good to use the regular 12 X 12 mat to get used to it. Everything cut out beautifully and I was super impressed with how great it cut out the intricate legs of my flamingos.
The second picture you see is using the print and cut feature. I was pretty happy with how it came out. On a few things I will have to do touch ups with my scissors, but I think it just means me tweaking the placement of my mat when it goes into the Cameo.
I printed out another set of these bears and colored them using my Bic Mark It markers. I think it came out super adorable! I will share this once I get it assembled into a card.
I bought the image for this bear in the Silhouette Store, #41117. I did not use this for the print and cut. When you purchase this, all you get is the cut file. I then went to Designs on Cloud 9 (who is the designer) to see if they had the digi file, and they did! So, I bought the digital stamp by the same name and was able to print, color it in and then cut it! It really was so super simple.
I know there are a lot of die hard Cricut crafters out there and I used to be one of them. I could not ever imagine going to another machine/company. I am really happy I did. Each company/machine has their pros and cons. It really is the best of both worlds to be able to use either!
My advice for someone that may be considering getting the Silhouette and you are on the fence, download the software. That really helped me make my decision. You will be able to see all the really cool things you can do with the machine. Once you get the designer software, it really opens up so much more you can do! You can do a lot with the just the basic software as well. I wanted to be able to cut svg files with my Cameo.
