HAPPY BIRTHDAY RYAN!!!! 20th Birthday Card

Hey guys!!  Today is an extra special post for me.  Today is my son Ryan’s 20th Birthday.  I so do not believe that 20 years have gone by.  They seem to have gone by WAY too fast.

I am so grateful to be his mom.  It has been an amazing 20 years (plus 9 months) watching him develop into the amazing young man he is.  I would daydream when he was younger about what he would look like and who he would become. He surpassed anything I could have envisioned.  I’m so excited and blessed to be along for the journey he is on.

I was unsure what I was going to make for his card.  I was leaning towards using Lori Whitlock’s new Cricut Cartridge All Occasion Box Cards, but decided to look through my colored images from Bugaboo Stamps.  I happened upon the cat rat birthday image and had to use it!  Lily (my fur-sister) has a stuffed rat that we call Jay Rat.  Sometimes they are best buds and snuggle, other times her toosh is laying on his face.  We assume that is when they are on the outs, LOL!  Anyway, it has become this running joke in our family and I thought Ry would find it funny.  Plus, he is the child of the crazy cat lady.  Let’s be honest, there was going to be a cat involved somewhere 🙂  Ryan recently went to visit his dad on vacation and he took a picture to show me how cats flock to him.  Yup, crazy cat lady’s son!!

So, onto the composition of the card.  Because it is Ryan, I dipped into my The Stamps of Life patterned paper from one of my Kit Clubs.  The paper patterned paper, from the Friend Collection is actually available for purchase.  The cardstock is from Recollections for my card base.  I used The Stamps of Life Stitched Rectangle Dies for the base layer and for the rectangle behind the image.   The image was colored in with my Spectrum Noir Markers and jazzed up with my Spectrum Noir Sparkle in clear coat.  I used Crystal Effects from Stampin’ Up on the balloon.  The grosgrain ribbon is from American Crafts in navy.  The sentiment is from You Had Me At Meow from My Creative Time and stamped in Not Quite Navy ink from Stampin’ Up.  The fishtail banner was actually cut by yours truly, I know I am just as shocked it worked out!!  For the inside of the card I used my Happiness Kit Club stamp set from The Stamps of Life.  Unfortunately, this is not available for purchase, but visit The Stamps of Life to find out more about the Card Kit Club.  It really is an amazing deal.  And, with joining the club you get an additional discount on the website.

Thank you so much for stopping by today to see this extra special creation.  Until next time, happy crafting!!!
