Altenew Journey: All About Layering – Lesson 1

For my first card, I wanted to show the simple layering of stamps.  I used masking to make the leaves appear as they were behind my flower.  Remember when doing this you need to stamp and mask what you would like to appear in front.  I used Altenew’s Build-A-Flower: Begonia for this card.  To have my flower appear in the foreground, I stamped it first and then masked with a piece of copy paper that I had die cut with the coordinating dies.  I stamped the flower with Mountain Mist for the base layer and Volcano Lake for the second layer.  Both of these inks come from the beautiful Sea Shore collection.  You will see me use this quite a bit in my card making as it is one of my favorites.  I chose not to stamp the third layer of the flower.  I then masked the flower as directed above to stamp the leaves.  For my leaves, I used another go-to favorite, the Green Fields collection.  I only used the first two inks from this family, Frayed Leaf and Forest Glades.  This is one of the amazing things about the Altenew stamps and ink families.  You decide what you like from the options they provide you with.  This will allow your stamp sets to have so much more mileage to attain so many different looks.  This would also apply to the inks as you can use one ink pad to achieve many looks with simply first stamping off.
