Altenew Academy – Creative Watercolor Media

Welcome back and thank you for sharing your time with me today.  I am super, super excited to share my projects with you today!  I know I say that a lot, but I REALLY mean it today ๐Ÿ™‚

Today I decided to make two projects.  I made a card and I also made a present for my wonderful husband.  I want him to know how much I love him, all the time.

In this class, one of the ideas that I ran with to make my projects was the idea of ink smooshing.  I wondered instead of using watercolors, what would happen with using the Metallic Ink sprays.  Instead of using the water to help the ink move, I used two colors.  One as the main color and one to help move the color.  In the card, I used Coral Berry as the main color and my favorite Antique Gold to move the color and act as an accent.  For my magnet, I used Forest Glades and accented with the Iridescent spray.

I save my cutting plates from my die cut machine.  Most come in pairs when you buy them and I only change out the bottom one.  A way to further stretch them is to use them for other tasks in your craft room.  I use them as paint pallets, or in this case to spray the color onto and then smoosh my paper into it.

Once the paper was pushed into the spray, I flipped it over to add pressure to the paper to move the ink around. I then let the papers dry overnight.  I then white heat embossed the flower from the Smile More stamp set with Altenew white embossing powder.  The sentiment is from the Sweet Nothings stamp set.  This is one of my favorite stamp sets.  It has beautiful flowers to color and the sentiments are AMAZING!  Definitely a set you need to have in your stash, it will be a go-to.  I added a few jewels from my stash to round out the card.
My second project was a magnet I made for my husband.  We have a sign in our living room that says “You are loved more than you will ever know”.  I’ve always loved making my husband little gifts to remind him how much he is loved.  We have tried to find a phrase that explains how much we love each other because the word “love” doesn’t seem to be enough.  This project not only made my husband extremely happy, but it is wonderful to see every day when I go into the kitchen.  We all need those little things in life to remind us we are loved.  I like being able to take my supplies and make gifts like this.  It’s a simple take, but a very important one.
Thank you so much for sharing your time with me.  I hope I have been able to give you some inspiration to think about your supplies in a new way and maybe even to surprise your loved ones.  The time we have with them is so precious.
Until next time stay safe and happy crafting.
