Thank you so much for joining me today
The picture above shows how I cut my mask for the front of my card. This card is a typical slimline card, measuring 3.5″ X 8.5″
In the above photo, you can barely make out the outline of the masked letters.
It is so satisfying to pull off the masks and see the stark white color underneath! I was going to use the second layer of stamps from the set, but I decided against it. I was worried the shadows may not be aesthetically pleasing to the eye. After all the stamping I did not want to start from scratch. This took me about an hour to stamp all of my balloons. I made a couple additional masks to help with layering. I also used the mask you can purchase from Altenew, the positive pieces of the mask. I simply love that Altenew is coming out with more and more of these stencils. Sorry about the tangent!
I decided to use the Tiny Stars stamp set to fill in the H & B. After my card was complete, I remembered I have the confetti stencil. That would look amazing as well and if I duplicate this card in the future I will definitely try that. I used the negative portion of the stencil to cover the area covered in balloons so that I could stamp the stars only in the white space. I was super duper nervous and used my Misti stamping tool for the first round of stamping. I stamped with Altenew embossing ink and then sprinkled on Antique Gold embossing powder. I stupidly became braver and decided to stamp freehanded for the filling in of certain portions of the letters. I applied a little too much pressure in one area but decided to roll with it.
I wanted to show you here how to stretch your supplies. This is an old trick, but a goodie. I have a Fiskars Sure Cut trimmer that has a little cord that shows where it will cut. It makes it very easy to cut the middle out of my card. No one will ever know (shhh!) and I get to stretch my beautiful Altenew Gold Foil cardstock.
This card came out beautiful! I was so happy with the end result. I thought about cutting out “appy” to put after the “H” and “irthday” to put after the “B”, but figured people would get the idea. I also toyed with the idea of adding a sentiment strip in gold that said “TO YOU”, but couldn’t get the placement to my liking. A few ideas for you if you replicate this card.
Thank you so much for stopping by. Until next time, stay safe and happy crafting!
