Welcome dear friends and thank you for sharing your time with me today. I was really inspired during this amazing class with Lydia. One of the techniques took advantage of an ombré look and I ran with it!
I decided to do ombré ink smooshing onto a piece of watercolor card-stock.
I started by using a thin washi tape (approximately 1/4”) to create my four distinct areas. I did some math (lol) to make sure my areas were reasonably close to each other. Once I had these separated I then took an old piece of transparency to smoosh my ink on.
Once I had the ink on the transparency I sprayed it with a heavy mist of water. I then smooshed this repeatedly onto my card front until it was covered. I then set aside the card front to let it fully dry. Without removing my washi tape I used an anti-static powder tool to make sure I didn’t get any stray embossing powder anywhere. I then stamped the image from Altenew Beautiful Blossoms with Altenew Embossing Ink. I then applied Altenew Crisp White embossing powder to my image and heat set it. I then allowed the piece to dry for a few minutes before I removed the washi tape by peeling it back on itself as to not rip my card stock.
I repeated this process using the Altenew Ink Sprays in Cool Summer Nights. I would spray the transparency with the ink spray and then sprayed that with water. This large floral image is from a collaboration Altenew did with Pinkfresh Studio called Celebrate Today. My sentiment came from Altenew Paint-A-Flower: Calla Lilly. I decided to try using Altenew’s Platinum embossing powder with this color combination. This embossing powder is becoming one of my favorites. I love all of the different color combos it works with. Right in between a gold and a silver. Absolutely gorgeous! To finish the card I added three enamel dots in Cool Summer Nights, making sure not to put the same color on the same section.
I absolutely love how these two cards came out. I’m not sure if I like the dark color on the bottom better or the top. I love how the thin lines allow the white to show through on the watercolor card stock. It makes the image and colors pop even more.
Thank you for sharing your time with me today.
Until next time, stay safe, be kind and happy crafting!
