Altenew – Get Wild With Washi – Entry #2

Hello everyone and thank you for joining me today.  I’m excited to share my second entry into the Altenew washi contest.

I started with a slimline card base cut at 8.5 x 7 (scored @ 3.5) from Neenah Solar White Classic Crest #110 card stock.  On the left edge of the card base, I put a strip of gold glitter washi tape.  I covered a panel (8.5 X 3) with Concrete Wall washi tape.

I have been telling you guys I need to go through and my extra pile that has gotten out of control.  For this card, I did just that.  The only thing that was created for this card new was the sentiment strip on vellum.

I started with the Jumbo Garden Picks layering die set and gradient card stock in Sea Shore and Green Meadows.  For my final layer of the flower, I used Gold Foil card stock.  The sentiment “you” was die-cut from Gold Foil card stock as well.  This comes from the same stamp set as the sentiment strip on vellum.

For my sentiment strip, I used vellum and Just For You stamp set.  I stamped the phrase in embossing ink and sprinkled on Antique Gold embossing powder.  I gently heat set the vellum and then die-cut it with the Featured Sentiments dies.  I used the new glue pen from Altenew to secure it to my card front.  I did put a stamp block on top and left it overnight to make sure it adhered well.  I always knock those off before they are dry otherwise!!  Sometimes klutziness can be so frustrating!!!
After this was adhered I laid out my flowers to figure out the arrangement.  I prefer to use glue tape to adhere the leaves to the back of the flowers.  That gives me a little time to play with the placement of the leaves.  I then applied foam adhesive to the entire back of both flowers.  On the top flower, I used thin foam squares and used 1/4″ foam squares on the bottom one.  I fidgeted with this layout for a bit of time.  I wanted to add another leaf cluster or floral, but could not make it look right to my eye.  I was really happy when I walked in this morning when I saw the arrangement with fresh eyes.  I’m really happy I walked away and had a fresh take on it.
Yesterday’s card was fun as it was a challenge to see how many different washi tapes I could use on one card.  I really liked today’s card because of the different textures.  The washi adds a unique texture because of the concrete appearance and it being washi.  The vellum, card stock, and gold foil add additional textures.  And, did you get a look at all that gold?!?!?   You know how I feel about that!
Thank you so for sharing your crafty time with me today.
Until next time, stay safe, and happy crafting!
