Altenew – Just For You

Hello everyone and thank you for sharing your time with me today.

For today my advice is never give up on a background!  I took a virtual workshop with Laurel this past Tuesday.  This was an extra background I made and I wasn’t sure about it.  For the background I started with a piece of Jet Black card stock.  I then used a die-cut of the Gradient Stripes cover die as a stencil to apply embossing paste.  I then splattered Antique Gold and Jet Black Metallic shimmer sprays onto the background.  I was not in love before I added the splatter.  Lesson here, splatter makes everything better!!   Can you believe there was a time I didn’t like splatter?!?
I added some of my beautiful flowers stamped with Sugarplums oval set and Just For You stamp set.  I started laying them out on my card front.  The leaves that came with the set did not look right.  I had some beautiful gold vellum in my stash and that was it!  I love the way it ties the background and flowers together.

I went back and forth deciding if I wanted to add a sentiment.  You can always stamp a sentiment at a later time.  I hate when you pull a card thinking it’s perfect and the sentiment doesn’t match the occasion.  I used one of my new go-to stamp sets for sentiments Penned Rose.  I stamped this with Obsidian pigment ink.  I was on the fence about clear heat embossing the sentiment, but was so happy with it stamped I decided to leave it.  The card was already assembled I felt I was living on the edge enough to stamp a completed card.  You guys know the guts it takes to do that!!
Thank you again for sharing your crafty time with me today.
Until next time, stay safe, and happy crafting!
