Altenew Celebrating Parents Card Drive Blog Hop & Giveaway

Hello everyone! I’m so excited to be here today in my first appearance as a guest designer for Altenew!! It makes it even more special that it is for such an amazing cause.

You must be here from the blog of Terri Koszler. If not, make sure you start here, Altenew Card Blog

I started with the gorgeous Altenew Craft-A-Flower: Antique Rose Layering Die Set. From the moment I saw this in the release I was SUPER excited and couldn’t wait to use it. This is an amazing set that is very simple to put together. I chose to use Sea Shore and Cherry Blossom gradient card stock sets. For my leaves I wanted a darker green gradient then in the Green Meadows gradient card stock set. I chose to use one of my new favorite ink families, Nature’s Wonders. I die-cut the leaves from 110# Neenah Solar White Classic Crest card stock. I then used the negative portion to lay the die-cut back into. I applied a piece of mint tape (washi tape) to the back to hold the pieces in place while I blended color onto the leaves with a small blending tool by Altenew. I love this method of adding color because you can add additional shadows in places. Especially now with the new Altenew detail blending brushes.

Once my flowers were complete, I next worked on the backgrounds. I was so excited to get the Garden Harmony 3D embossing folder, so I HAD to use it! I tried a technique that I was nervous to try. Many people before me had, so I don’t know why I was so nervous. Well, actually, I was so nervous because I was worried I would ruin my embossing folder. I worried for not! I applied my favorite Pure Graphite ink to the embossing folder and embossed onto Moonrock card stock. I made two backgrounds, one with the top inked and one with the bottom inked. I am kicking myself for not doing this sooner! I love the effect I got from this technique!!

For my sentiment, I chose to use Woodland Flowers and Pure Graphite ink. Woodland Flowers was a very generous gift from Altenew that had the perfect sentiments for these cards. I used the Featured Sentiments dies to die-cut the sentiment from Moonrock card stock. I adhered the sentiments with foam adhesive.

I hope you enjoyed my cards today. I certainly enjoyed creating them for this amazing cause! I have made 75 cards already for the card drive. My realistic goal is 100 cards, my overall goal is 200 cards. I intend to put a sticky note inside with my message. This way they can remove it and reuse the card for someone special in their lives.
