Altenew Certified Educators Instagram Blog Hop

Hello everyone! Thank you so much for stopping by today.

Being an Altenew Educator is such an important part of my life. I love being able to share creativity with this amazing community. Another important part of being an educator, to me, is continuing to learn and grow.

For my project today, I definitely worked with some techniques that I don’t in my everyday crafting. I started with a leftover piece of background I had made in my dear friend Pam Boedeker’s workshop. We started with a large piece of water color paper that we sprayed with water. Then, we started layering in color. I chose Ocean Waves metallic spray. I would load the paint brush with the color and put it at the top of the page to let it drip down where the water was. I was so happy with the result I made sure to use every single piece!

Since it was mixed media, I really wanted to add more! That is the part I struggle with as I generally create clean and simple projects. I always feel like I have added too much with mixed media. My next step was to use the Splatter stencil and Antique Gold metallic spray. I really wanted controlled splatter and this is a GREAT way to accomplish this. Once this dried, I knew I wanted to add embossing paste. I chose to use On The Plus Side stencil, one of my absolute faves!! I added the embossing paste in three different locations — have to keep the eyes happy with the layout, lol! I love how the metallic gold shines through the embossing paste in different locations.

I thought about stopping here….and then I saw the Sweet Ginkgo stamp set on my desk. This stamp set definitely has a place on my faves list, it has such VERSATILITY! I again stamped in three locations with Darkest Night crisp dye ink.

Finally, I added the date to the page and voila! Even though this page will go in my travelers journal book, I don’t feel the need to add journaling. My hope is 20 years from now, the date will spur my memory enough.
