Altenew Eclectic Vibes Stamps/Dies/Stencils/Embossing Folders Collection Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hello everyone and thank you for joining me today for this amazing hop! I have a few projects to share with you, but want to make sure you are in the right place. You should have arrived from Amanda Baldwin’s blog. If you haven’t, start at the Altenew Card Blog.

Here is a look at the entire release. It is groovy, man — if I do say so myself!

As soon as I saw the Cool Doodles 3D embossing folder I knew I wanted to color it with lots of bright colors. It reminded me of the 60’s. Now, I wasn’t alive then, but I’ve seen many movies and pictures 🙂 I have been on a rainbow pallete of colors since I took a couple of workshops with the amazing Lilith Eeckles. I started with a 9×12 piece of watercolor paper. I chose colors that are in the Rainbow Prism set — I had to make a couple substitutions. I used Ruby Red, Warm Sunshine, Orange Cream, Lime, Ultramarine, and Ultraviolet. I sprayed the watercolor paper with water to encourage the colors to run. I started putting drops of color on in random order. After I dropped the color on, I sprayed with water again to have the color spread across my paper. I was careful to watch my colors to limit the brown I ended up with. I have a little on my project, but love the look I ended up with.

Once fully dry, I ran this through my die-cut machine. When I open end the folder — it was beautiful. I used the new Just a Number die set to cut my sentiment from Vellum (shadow) and Gold Foil card stock.

For my focal point, I used the gorgeous Gardenia Duo set. I created another 9 x 12 panel with random colors – Ruby Red, Orange Cream, and Warm Sunshine. On a separate panel I used a mix of greens – Lime, Limeade and Emerald. I sprayed the drops and spread the color around.

Once dry, I stamped my outline images with Obsidian pigment ink onto the panels and die-cut them. I arranged my floral and leaves – my leaves were adhered flat and my florals adhered with foam tape.

You will see I am absolutely in love with the Gardenia Duo set. For this card I used all three pieces of the set. I started by stamping my florals with Martian Terrain ink family – Mahogany Bark (outline), Canyon Clay (ink blended 1st layer), and Burnt Red (2nd layer). My leaves were stamped using Misty Moor and Marshland inks from Nature’s Wonders ink family. The leaves were adhered flat, florals were adhered with foam tape.

My sentiment is from the Label Love stamp set, stamped with Obsidian pigment ink. I love how the sentiment is “hugged” by the florals.

This card began with Spicy Yogurt card stock. I ink blended on the right-hand side of the card panel with Icy Water ink. I wanted to add interest behind where my floral cluster would be.

My florals used the same ink families. I changed my leaves on this set: Sea Forest (Outline), Misty Moor (Entire leaf), and Marshland (“shadow”).

The sentiment was stamped on the left-hand side of the card with Obsidian pigment ink. This was definitely something different for me. I usually always have my sentiment on the right and images on the left. However, I really love this card and look forward to making more with this layout in the future.

This card was using up leftovers I had from playing with my Watercolor Brush markers. I had just received an order that had the Circular Elements dies in the mail and could not wait to use them. I die-cut a white piece of card stock with the circular die. Obsidian ink was used to stamp the sentiment from the set in the lower left-hand corner. I’m amazed I remembered to do this before moving on! I did contemplate leaving it white behind the opening or putting the florals partially behind. Instead, I decided to pop the panel up. I went through some of my patterned paper, but couldn’t find just the right match. I then looked to my washi and perfecto! The pink watercolor wide washi was made to go with these flowers! I covered a panel with the washi, trying to get a section that showed both the pink and purple tones. I adhered the popped white panel to the front of the card.

I’m starting to fall in love with my left-sided sentiment cards ❤️

This card was a no-brainer for me. The second I saw this die, I started singing the theme song for “The Golden Girls”. I used to watch that show religiously with my Meme and still do when I miss her. I knew I had to go gold! Although, I think that much of the time, lol!

For my background, I splattered Jet Black, Antique Silver, Antique Gold, and Pure White ink sprays. While that was drying I die-cut the sentiment. The shadow was cut from Jet Black card stock and the layer from Gold Foil card stock. I wanted to pop-up the sentiment and decided to use fun foam. I used the top layer to cut the fun foam, that way I did not have to fidget as much to make sure it wasn’t seen.

It still felt like it was missing something, I turned to my favorite Sweethearts wood veneer hearts. I used Antique Gold pigment ink to color them. The hearts are super, super sticky. I stuck it on the end of my finger and pushed it into the ink. Once I added these, I was super happy with the card.
