For my first card I went slimline! I don’t make these as often as I would like to. I always seem to grab an A2 sized panel and go…as you will see with my next card, lol!
My obsession with Martian Terrain continues! I used all four colors, but not on each floral. I used Pastel Sunrise, Canyon Clay, and Mahogany Bark on one; the other rose was stamped with Pastel Sunrise, Burnt Red, and Mahogany Bark. For my yellow tones, I used one of my absolute favorite new (maybe just new to me) combos: Buttercream, Mango Smoothie, and Pumpkin Pie. I love how these yellow tones compliment my peachy tones from Martian Terrain. I absolutely adore the leaves that came in the set, but I was inspired to pull out my Just Leaves die set. I have adored these dies since they came out and once in awhile a project SCREAMS for me to use them…this is what happened here. I started by die cutting all of the dies from a strip of white card stock. I left the die-cuts in place and secured them with some Mint tape. I flipped them over and began ink blending. I keep a set of blending brushes specifically for Martian Terrain as I feel it is a unique color family in the Altenew line-up of colors. I started by just blending with what was left on the large blending tool. When my ink was super, super light, I dipped into the Mahogany Bark and started blending. I wasn’t careful where I applied it, I just tried to keep some lighter areas and darker areas. When I finished with the ink blending it still felt like it was missing something. Iridescent shimmer spray to the rescue! I splattered liberally — love the look! It looks a little different on each color. I love a product that gives me lots of looks for minimal effort.
While my leaves were drying I decided to work on my background panel. A piece of Spicy Yogurt was cut to 3.25 x 8.5. I love the indentation you get from the sides of the folder. It adds another little touch and looks fabulous!
I added strips of gold fold washi to my card base at the top and bottom. My card panel was backed with foam tape before adhering to my card base. I then started playing with the arrangement of florals/leaves on the front of my panel. I was careful to keep an odd number of elements on the panel and to create triangles within my arrangement. Our eyes are picky, picky, picky! But, in the end — so happy with the outcome!
To begin this card I started with Moon rock card stock for my base panel. This and Spicy Yogurt are two of my ALL TIME favorite card stocks from Altenew. I love the flecks that are in the card stock. Adds just that perfect touch of somethin’, somethin’!
I had stamped many of the florals when playing with the set. I created this floral as indicated above using Pastel Sunrise, Canyon Clay, Mahogany Bark, Buttercream, Mango Smoothie, and Pumpkin Pie.
I really love the leaves in this set. I think I will use these leaves on projects that I create with other sets. I wanted to do something a little different, so I stamped just layer B3 with Industrial Diamond ink. Because I used the Moon rock card stock, it wasn’t as stark of a difference where the card stock shone through. I stamped my sentiment with the same Industrial Diamond ink before adhering my floral with foam tape.
I really hope this technique inspires you to look at your stamp sets in a different way. Altenew gives us all of the tools (layers) to create beautiful projects, but it doesn’t mean we have to use them on every project. It all depends on the look you are going for. Change it up with ink colors also — it is amazing how changing your color palette can effect your final product.
