Altenew Educators “Alphabet Name Game” Blog Hop and Linky Party + Giveaway
I am super excited to share my project with you today. Because today is my husbands birthday, I also made a card that I will share with you — two projects in one blog!!
I really wanted to create a scrapbook page of Emery. You may find this a little strange, but my layout is 4 1/4 x 5 1/2! I will just trim down a page in my scrapbook and insert this in. I love the challenge of getting everything into this smaller size.
Because I never do things simple, and like a challenge — I used all of my initials:
B: Blending – M: Mixed Media (Card stock, Ink Blending, Embossing Paste, MM Inks) – L: Layering of card stock/images – C: Color – Blue
I started with a panel of Neenah Solar White Classic Crest 80# cardstock. I used the Northern Shore ink family to blend my background in an ombré fashion. To have the colors really blend together I went light to dark and then back to light. It helps to get rid of any lines you can get when blending.
Next, I added my embossing paste to my project with the Brick Rosette Builder Stencil. I added this in quite a few places because I knew some of them would get covered up. The next addition was another stencil. I pulled out the Terrazzo Tile Stencil. I used a detail blending brush to apply Sapphire Mixed Media ink to the background. I love how this ink sits on top of the previous blending I did.
For layering, I pulled out one of the Enchanting Washes papers and trimmed it down to leave a small border around my photo. When I placed it onto my background it didn’t look right, Gilded glitter cardstock to the rescue! What can’t gold glitter cardstock fix?? Based on the colors I had to this point, I pulled out Enjoy The Ride paper collection. I knew it had blues and yellows that would work perfectly. I pulled a few pieces from the ephemera pack and layered them onto my photo.
I really hope this will inspire you to try an A2 sized scrapbook/journal page. If you do create one, please tag me! I always love to see what you guys create :).
As many of you know, I lost my husband in July of last year. Today would have been his birthday, so I thought I would share a card using his initials as inspiration.
My husband’s initials were SPC.
S – Spicy Yogurt card stock, Sparkle (or as my husband used to say “Shiny”)!
P – Pink Brilliance, Poppy
C – Charcoal Suit crisp dye ink, Cover Die (Cozy Flannel), Craft-A-Flower
I started with a piece of Spicy Yogurt that was 5.5 x 8.5. Half was used as a card panel and I die cut the other piece with Cozy Flannel die. I also remembered to use adhesive sheets, which I never do! Makes application super easy of the floral pieces and the cover die panel. I used Forest Canopy glitter gradient set for my leaves and Pink Brilliance glitter gradient set for my florals. I did sneak in a piece from Gilded glitter cardstock set for the flower centers! Nothing but the best for the best ❤️. It may surprise you where my sentiment came from — a “holiday” set! I used Holiday Wishes for my sentiment and die cut with Featured Sentiments dies. I added low profile foam squares to the back keeping in mind where the cutouts were from my cover die.
