Altenew Educators “New Favorite” Blog Hop and Linky Party + Giveaway

Hello everyone and thank you so much for stopping by to check out my new favorite(s)! I combined my new favorite colors and technique with some oldies, but goodies from earlier. With all the amazing stencils we saw released in 2021, it is no wonder ink blending has taken over my heart as my favorite technique.

This project definitely has some of my new favorites from Altenew, but the old favorites have a way of sneaking in too!

For this project, the “new” favorites would be the new ink colors “Frozen Delights” and the Playful Patterns stencil set. Both of these were released in the later part of 2021. For my stenciling I used the Mini Blending Brushes, those were also 2021 later addition — and an amazing one!!

Some of my oldies, but greats also found their way onto this project. These would be Hello & Hugs stamp set, Obsidian pigment ink, and Spicy Yogurt cardstock. I may have become super, super obsessed with Spicy Yogurt cardstock. I feel like I need sunglasses now when I see plain white cardstock, lol!

For my cards, I used Lemon Ice, Pistachio, and Strawberry with Playful Patterns. The day I made these cards, I did make a total of eight. I did use Tanzanite from Jewel Tones to add the “dots” stencil. I really was happier using the pastel colors only on the card — it gave it an overall lighter feel. This would also be really gorgeous using the Jewel Tones as well!

One of the great things about the Playful Patterns set is you get four individual stencils that CAN work together to build a background. I have used them in this manner, but I have also really enjoyed using them separately. I would just line the stencil up with the bottom left-hand corner of my A2 panel in the lowest opening on the stencil. You can achieve a built-in border if you align your card flush with the corner of the stencil. If you haven’t checked out any of the products I have used today, there are links at the bottom. If I had to pick one thing out of all the products(but I know you would never make me!), it would easily be the Playful Patterns stencil set. It is beyond versatile and I know will still be in my hand in 2022!!

  1. Love that stencil too Bridget, I simply cannot put it away ( just yet 😉) maybe once I get to open the others I have order I will be able to part with it ☺️ 2021 was the year of the stencil comeback for me, it helps me to practice my ink blending so I am loving it too! Thanks for the inspiration!

  2. Your card is soft and wonderful. The colors and stencil you used are just perfect together.

  3. Layering stencils, once i have more of them, will probably be my favorite non color based supply. I wish there was a subscription for standalone Layering stencils! Or layer stencil plus die. Worth a wide variety of subjects, not just flowers.

I love what you did with them here.

  4. I would consider stencils and blending brushes a must have. Such a great price point too.
