Altenew Paint-A-Flower: Dahlia Bright Eyes Outline Stamp Set Release Blog Hop + Giveaway ($200 in Total Prizes)

Hello everyone! You have arrived at the final stop on the hop — thank you so much for continuing to the very end! You should have arrived from Amy Hill’s blog. If you have gotten lost on the hop, head back to the Altenew Card Blog.

Shall we talk about this gorgeous stamp set?

One of my favorite things about the Paint-A-Flower line is that I really get time to focus on my watercolor. Many times I am too lazy to pull out all of the supplies I use to watercolor. Plus, Emery likes to make the paintbrushes roll and drink the dirty water. It’s a whole production, lol! But when the new Paint-A-Flower comes out I take that time to watercolor — and LOVE it! It is amazing how therapeutic watercolor can be. All of the cares and frustrations just fall by the wayside and you end up with a beautiful card.

To begin I heat embossed the image with Pure White embossing powder using embossing ink. I have really been focusing on getting to know my 24 pan watercolor set. I used to always reach for the 36 pan and want to make sure my supplies get equal time in the light so to speak! For this project, I used Tropical Forest, Pocketful of Sunshine, Lagoon, and a bit of Coffee Break in the center. For coloring my florals I used the wet-on-wet technique, which means I wet my paper and then went in with a wet brush with pigment. I love how that allows the color freedom to do its own thing — you never know how it will end up! Isn’t that exciting? Okay, a bit scary too, lol!

I used similar techniques on this card. I chose to heat emboss this floral with Antique Gold embossing powder after using embossing ink. For my color palette, I really focused on using Pocketful of Sunshine. My husband’s favorite color was yellow and he has been on my heart more than usual. This means you guys will be seeing a lot of projects with yellow! I used Tropical Forest for the stem, and Rock Collection for the floral center. I left this project without a sentiment. I don’t always know where a card will end up, so I have been trying to leave some blank to ensure they are open to possibility! It has been a hard process to get used to. It doesn’t feel like you can say a project is complete without all the components. However, I also appreciate a great notecard where you don’t need to have a sentiment. You can really convey your message on the inside of the card within your personal message.
