Altenew April 2022 Spring Garden Collection Release Blog Hop + Giveaway ($300 in total prizes)

Hello everyone and thank you so much for joining me today. You should have started at the Altenew Card Blog and arrived here from the blog of Susan Stagno

I knew the moment I saw the Lacy Doily Die that I wanted to hot foil with it. Did you guys know you can hot foil with ALL of your “regular” dies? YUP! I used Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil Variety Pack in Essential Metallics for this much of this release. Rainbow foil just happens to sneak in, so stay tuned! My sentiment and card panel were cut from a piece of Tim Holtz Kraft Stock Metallic Colors. We are rockin’ the metallics today!! My sentiment is from the Bold Greetings set. I find I use this so frequently! If you haven’t checked this out, click on the link below. It comes with three sentiments and has a super-duper price point! The sentiment was adhered flat to my panel. The top panel was adhered to the top panel with instant dimension foam tape.

Rainbow anyone? I began by ink blending onto an A2 card panel of Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 80# cardstock using: Ruby Red, Orange Cream, Warm Sunshine, and Parrot from the Rainbow Prism ink set. I then adhered double-sided adhesive to the back of another piece of 80# Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock before running through my Gemini with the Detailed Web Cover Die. The phrase from Sentiment Strips 3 is clear heat embossed with obsidian ink onto a 1/4″ strip. The sentiment strip was adhered flat to the panel.

This project uses the Vibrant Florals hot foil plate and coordinating stencil. The foil was from Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil Variety Pack in Essential Metallics. I have also been asked which machine I use for foiling. I use the Go Press Foil machine and absolutely LOVE IT! For my florals, I used Icy Water, Winter Lake, and Arctic Mountain. My leaves were completed with only Marshland. I used my blending brush to give me additional depth around the petals. When my blending was complete, I wiped the image off with a clean microfiber cloth. The sentiment is from Mini Delight: Victorian and stamped with Arctic Mountain ink.

This was the first item I just had to use from this release — isn’t it gorgeous?? This is the Antique Blossoms Die Set. I began by cutting this twice from Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 80# cardstock with double-sided adhesive on the back. I laid one of the die-cut pieces onto my A2 card panel and began coloring with Tropical Forest and Pocketful of Sunshine Artist Markers. If you go a little over the lines, don’t worry! When I was done coloring I laid an additional die-cut piece over the top. Voila, it hides all the coloring sins!! My sentiment is clear heat embossed with Obsidian pigment ink using the most recent Craft Your Life Kit Fragrant Florals. Normally I do not let pieces hang over the edge of my card panels, but I could not cut this down! An option would be to make an A6 card base. I’m sure I will get tough one day and trim it off, lol!

The Ornate Door die was another one that really caught my attention! This die has so many possibilities!! I began by cutting the die from a piece of masking paper. I laid this over a piece of Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 80# cardstock. For my blending, I used: Rouge, Coral Berry, and Cosmic Berry. Once this was dry, I removed the mask and sprayed and splattered Antique Gold metallic ink spray over the entire panel. I trimmed the edges and added instant dimension foam tape to the back. Sentiment Strips 3 was used again for the sentiment. I trimmed my sentiment down to fit into the panel space.

This Chevron hot foil plate will be a game-changer in my crafty space! I love all the possibilities with this as well. I used Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil Variety Pack in Essential Metallics for the Chevron hot foil plate and set that aside. For my image I colored a plant from the Pots and Plants stamp set — I had been DYING to use this set, what a better time? I used Altenew Artist Markers to color my image: Sweet Dreams, Coffee Break, Tropical Forest, and Warm Sunshine. The sentiment is from Stone Mosaic, stamped with Obsidian, and cut with a Featured Sentiments die, another staple in my space.

I just had to make one more project with the Detailed Web cover die and desperately wanted to use the Wonderfully Made die. I used Rainbow foil with my Wonderfully Made die and then fussy cut it out. My background is Sea Shore blended through a mask I created using the Detailed Web cover die. The base of my card is from the Altenew Blends paper pack. If you haven’t checked that out — oh my goodness! Jaycee made a project that inspired me to take this pack out and I can’t stop!! Both of my panels were adhered with foam tape — bring on the dimension 🙂
