Altenew – Get Wild With Washi Contest

Hello everyone and thank you for sharing part of your day with me.  I’m excited to share with you one of the entries I will be submitting for the washi contest.

This entire card front is made of washi tape.  I started by cutting a card base sized at 8 1/2 x 3 from Neenah Solar White #110 cardstock.  I covered this panel with the gorgeous gold string washi tape.
For my focal image, I used the layered rose die set and the rose petal gradient washi tape.  In order to make it easier to layer my roses, I first attached the washi tape to the vellum before I cut each layer.  I used my Xyron 3in adhesive tool to apply adhesive over the entire back.  The vellum and the washi are both thin and transparent.  I needed an adhesive that was strong and would not show.  Since there is no green gradient (yet) in the washi tape I needed to find some way to make leaves from the washi I had in my stash. I was super excited to find the leaf washi tape in my stash!  I applied this to vellum as well before I trimmed out the leaves I wanted to use.  I applied adhesive in the same manner as I did the flowers.
For my sentiment, I turned to my favorite gold glitter tape.  I applied this to vellum and die-cut my hello sentiment using the handwritten hello.  The sentiment seemed to blend too much into the gold in the background.  I looked at the washi tape I had on my work surface and realized I had not used the Cosmic Berry washi tape yet.  I layered that onto vellum and die-cut the handwritten hello.  I layered it offset in the back and it was perfect!  I also love that I was able to work in all four of the Rose Petal gradient washi tapes.

If you had told me I would be able to work seven washi tapes onto one card, I wouldn’t have believed you!  It just shows how important it is to sit down and just play with your supplies.  Pull out your favorite set and embellishments and see what happens!
Thank you for joining me today and sharing your crafty time with me.
Until next time, stay safe and happy crafting!
