Altenew Craft-A-Flower: Dendrobium Orchid Release Blog Hop + Giveaway ($200 in total prizes)

Hello everyone! Get out those tweezers and glue….there is a new Craft-A-Flower family member!! Welcome, Dendrobium Orchid! Before we get into the crafty goodness, you should have arrived here from Joylita Dsouza’s blog. If you have gotten lost on your blog hop journey, please start at Altenew Card Blog.

How can you get this amazing Craft-A-Flower: Dendrobium Orchid?

This set was so much fun to put together! I definitely recommend Altenew Adhesive Sheets — they will make this super fast! Below are the colors I used to assemble the Dendrobium Orchid’s. I love how the Orchid’s have the contrast from the lighter colors in Sea Shore to the darker shades of New Purple.

Flowers: Sea Shore (Mountain Mist, Volcano Lake) New Purple (Ultraviolet, Andromeda)

Leaves: Moon Rock, Pale Gray — Stems: Dark Gray

Usually, I always have picked a color family and worked through for each layer of the flower. I really wanted to change that up! I know mixing teal and purple isn’t that daring, but it was something a little different for me. I almost pulled out the gorgeous glittered cardstocks, but kept the card sans glitter. My New Purple color family was a last addition for me. I really couldn’t wait to see these in the Sea Shore colors, my gray shades were next in line, and finally New Purple.

Once my floral cluster was built, I ran a piece of Moonrock cardstock through my die-cut machine. I will offer a tip — cut your cardstock longer than you intend on using. The amazing Window Slats 3D Embossing Folder shrinks the paper when it makes those beautiful slats. I adhered the Window Slats panel centered onto an A2 card panel cut from Dark Gray cardstock.

My sentiment came from Sentiment Strips and was stamped in Pure Graphite ink. For the final touch, I added enamel heart shapes from Rock Collection enamel dots.

This is definitely a fun set to sit in front of the television with, watch a movie and create gorgeous Orchids!
