Altenew Mighty Kind Stand Alone Dies Collection Release Blog Hop + Giveaway ($300 in total prizes)

Hello everyone! I hope you are having a wonderful day so far. You are about to get a mighty good dose of inspiration from this amazing blog hop! You should have arrived my fellow New England crafty girl, Amy Hill. If for some reason you didn’t, head back to the Altenew Card Blog to check the blog hop order. To check out the whole release, head here.

I am sharing this card with you first because these are the two products I pulled from my box first! I am in absolute love with these two products, they are so elegant, yet so simple! I love products I can use again and again for many different occasions.

I started with the gorgeous Spicy Yogurt cardstock. If you do not have this in your stash, you need to order some! Jen says there are two types of people when it comes to Spicy Yogurt cardstock – those who have never used it, and those that are obsessed with it!! Guess which one I am???

I cut my card to a slimline panel as I knew I wanted to use both dies on one panel. I die cut my Pop-up Dahlia first. I then die-cut the Be Kind set from the panel making sure to keep the little fiddly bits, I will need to add a few to define my letters in a moment. Once the die-cutting was done, I proceeded to pop-up the leaves on this gorgeous floral. I then layered the back with foam tape and strategically placed gold cardstock in the back. I hate to waste an inch of this beautiful golden goodness. The gold glitter cardstock is from the Gilded Set. I then placed the center of the “b”, the top of the “e”, piece between “k” & “I” and the “d” into their paper homes.

It felt too plain, so I added a few enamel dots to the card to pull it all together. In retrospect, I should have hit it with the splatter…and I may still, lol!

You guys knew I was going to sneak a rainbow in, right? Lilith set me on a rainbow kick months ago and I CAN NOT stop! I used the Simple Shapes cover die to cut a mask and adhered that to a piece of Neenah Solar White 80# cardstock. I then used Artist Markers in the Rainbow Prism ink family colors to color in my image. I tried to go in Roy G BIV order, but a few times I had to “Make it work, designers!” Not a Project Runway fan, but Tim Gunn is my guru with that phrase!! The white looked to stark against the beautiful rainbow of colors. I decided to pull out Parchment cardstock from Altenew. It was the perfect fit!!

I paired the Way To Go die with this cut from Gilded cardstock and vellum. I find vellum is a great choice when you have a vibrant background, but still need that shadow layer to separate from your project. The accompanying die “you rock” was cut from Lagoon cardstock and adhered to Dazzling Diamonds. I couldn’t decide between silver and gold — thanks to Altenew I don’t have to!

Another project with the Way to Go die set and a rainbow is this one. I started with 5.75 x 5.75 panel of Spicy Yogurt cardstock and used the amazing Frame of Leaves 3D EF from the previous release. I lightly added colors from the Rainbow Prism set around the folder. I love the extra detail the Spicy Yogurt adds. So pretty, and it is all in the cardstock to start!

I used the leftovers from my last project on this one. On my Simple Shapes cover die I could not decide if I wanted glitter on top or bottom. I used those pieces here. I love how the vellum tones down the glitter except on the sides! Super cool effect just by changing the placement of the vellum.

The creation of this card came to me in an odd manner — as you know they sometimes do! I was creating a card for the Educator’s Name Game hop for my husband. I happened to look over and this card just came together in my mind! I realized except for the “I” the rest of “heart you” could be spelled out with letters in order in the alphabet. I die-cut the Mighty Alphabet from Gilded glitter cardstock and then cut only the “HRTU” out of Pink Brilliance glitter cardstock. I decided to use the All the Hearts die to cut a varying size of hearts from the Pink Brilliance glitter cardstock as well. I really wanted to hit home the theme. I used my Altenew craft mat to line up the letters as best I could on to a 3.5 x 8.5 slimline card panel. I added the hearts scattered across the card. I hope you enjoy this card — you guys know who its for 🙂

My final card, is a Halloween card, using non-traditional supplies. This is the Calming Reflections cover die. As it sat on my desk, it reminded me of ghost shapes. I had to think on how I was going to pull this off — and you guys let me know what you think!

I die cut Calming Reflections from black cardstock 5 times. I layered four of those together to create enough room for the shaker element. It took me a few minutes to figure out the eyes for the ghosts, and I finally decided enamel dots for the eyes would work. I picked the openings that had “ghost” shapes and added the enamel dots. I then sprinkled in sequins, seed seeds and some other oldies, but goodies from my stash (of 20+ years). I adhered the vellum to the top. Next I ran the final Calming Reflections through with double-sided adhesive and applied onto the vellum.

I needed a phrase to make your eye know those were ghosts. For that I used Dazzling Diamonds glitter cardstock paired with my favorite Altenew alphabet of all time, bold caps.

Phew…you guys said you like seeing all the cards on release day. Thanks for hanging through with me. I get carried away many times with Altenew products and can’t stop creating. I hope you will share with me in the comments your favorite project. I love to hear what you guys are thinking. And, although I don’t respond to the comments, I read and treasure every single one of them. You guys make me smile again, and again, and again. You all are why I love my job! You are all so amazing and I am so thankful for every one of you my crafty friends.
