Welcome back and thank you for spending time with me today. Today’s class was my Everest! It was the class that has most challenged me on this journey. I am in awe of the beautiful work of the instructor, Marika Rahtu. Her work is so gorgeous! I need to devote more practice to all the wonderful lessons that we learned.
For my project, I was really inspired by the lesson that encourages us to look at our stamps in different ways. The stamp sets are so beautiful as they were intended to be used, but it is so great when you can extend the life of those sets and use them in creative manners. For my card, I chose to use Vintage Roses for the flowers and Beauty Within for the sentiment.
I used the Rock Collection family for my stamping. You may notice on the bottom flower I only used Limestone, simply stamping off one time and then stamping. I decided I didn’t like that as much as using the four shades.
The above photo gives you a closer look at how I used the inks in this color family. The piece of cardstock to the right shows you the three images I used to create these flowers. Below is a picture of the stamp set with arrows to indicate where these images are on the carrier sheet.
I was torn about adding any further embellishment. I tried adding some of the black and grey enamel dots, but it looked too cluttered. I was happier with the card as it was. Again, sometimes simplistic is the way to go. More is not always better….trust me I am better at giving that advice than taking it! More of a do as I say, not as I do, lol.
I hope this will encourage you to think about your stamp sets in a different way. Go through your stash and pick a couple sets you think could work. Then, while your doing dishes or sitting in your car ponder how you can push the limits of those images.
Until next time, stay safe and happy crafting!
