Altenew Academy – Easy Die Cutting Techniques

Hello all and thank you for sharing a moment of your day with me.  I have a beautiful card to showcase for you today that was created for the Altenew Class Easy Die-Cutting Techniques. I love the technique I used and need to use it more often.

I started with my background using the Leafy Garland die.  I cut multiples out of white cardstock so I could achieve a very subtle background to let my beautiful Torch Ginger be highlighted.  This is a great way to use up scraps you may have laying around (don’t we all!)  I placed my leafy garland die cuts over my card front and played with them like puzzle pieces until they fit perfectly.  I wasn’t worried about the middle of the card as I knew I would be covering it up with the large floral.  When I had it laid out how I wanted it, I began to glue the die cuts down.  I would trim off any excess along the way and fit the cut off pieces where I could…no waste!!  I stamped my Torch Ginger with Glacier Caves ink family and the leaves with the Green Fields ink family.  In the end, I heat embossed my Torch Ginger with Altenew’s Antique Gold embossing powder. My leaves were adhered flat to my background and I used foam tape for the floral.  I toyed with adding a sentiment to the card but did not for a couple of reasons.  First, I really like the look of this without a sentiment and second, I like to add sentiments when I go to use the card.  I have reached for a card many times and wished it had a different sentiment on it.  Live and learn!!  Or just make twice as many cards, lol!
Thank you for spending a few moments of your day with me as it is always appreciated.  I hope you check out this class and other at Altenew to expand your crafty horizons.
Until next time, stay healthy and safe.  As always – happy crafting!
