Altenew Build-A-Flower: Narcissus Release Blog Hop + Giveaway ($200 in total prizes)
Hello everyone! I’m so excited to be joining the amazing party to welcome the newest member to the Build-A-Flower family, Narcissus! You should have arrived from my dear friend (and fellow New Englander) Amy Hill! Let’s get to the good stuff — the projects!
My first project is a one-layer card. I don’t do these very often (masking!), but that is exactly the reason I wanted to do it. You will see in my second project I am working on my mixed media this year. I am also making a conscious effort to experiment with ink colors — crossing color families to create beautiful (hopefully!) new combos. I began with a Moonrock card panel with my sentiment stamped in Obsidian pigment ink.
Floral inks: Blush, Coral Berry, Crimson, Volcano Lake, Teal Cave, Green Onyx. Center: Mango Smoothie, Maple Yellow.
Leaves: Firely, Forest Glades, Green Onyx
For my second project, I really wanted to play with mixed media. That is definitely a technique I am devoting time to this year.
Floral inks: Buttercream, Vanilla Cream, Butternut, Sunray, Snapdragon, Autumn Blaze
Leaves: Firefly, Olive, Green Onyx
My card base is a piece of Moonrock cardstock which I then used the Fine Tulle stencil on top of. I blended Silverstone ink with the stencil, wiped it off, and then applied embossing paste across part of the card panel. I knew I wanted the florals in opposing corners, so I kept that in mind when using my stencil. The word “YOU” is cut using Mighty Alphabet dies from Real Gray cardstock. Finally, the floral clusters were adhered to the panel with foam tape.
