Altenew March 2022 Whimsical Fairy Tale Collection Release Blog Hop + Giveaway ($300 in total prizes)

Hello everyone and welcome to this whimsical hop! You should have arrived from Nandini Karmarkar’s blog and begun at the Altenew Card Blog.

This set was beyond inspiring, so please grab a snack and join me for some crafty inspiration!

As many of you know I have a PASSION or OBSESSION with rainbows! This was the first item I pulled out of my gorgeous design package!! I decided to change it up a little and I used the amazing Frozen Delights set as my rainbow. I love this ink set, but don’t use it nearly enough! I began by just stenciling with Double Rainbow onto Moon Rock cardstock, but it seemed like it was missing something. I used the new Eggcentric 3D embossing folder to add more depth and dimension. To finish this project I used a sentiment from An Artists’ Collection, stamped with Obsidian Pigment Ink.

Since we began with the adorable Eggcentric 3D embossing folder, I will share another project I made. I used Spicy Yogurt cardstock as an A2 card panel and ran it through the Eggcentric 3D embossing folder. For my focal image, I used the Polka Dot Leaves Dies, die-cutting both layers from Navy cardstock. These were adhered and foam tape was added to the back of the leaves for more interest. My sentiment is stamped with Obsidian Pigment Ink and is from the Craft Your Life Kit from February, Feathered Lilies. Those sentiments will definitely be appearing on projects all year through — you guys know I love sentiments! Since I stamped my sentiment after the embossing folder had been used, the lines are not “perfect”. You could create perfect lines by using an Altenew Fine Liner. I decided not to do this as I liked the look it added to my project. Who doesn’t love a little more interest?

My next project – love how this turned out! Do you ever have an image of a project in your head, you make it, and it comes out better than in your mind? That doesn’t happen very often, but it did today! But honestly, how could this release not inspire you? This project uses the new Flower Bed 3D embossing folder! To achieve all this color I only used two pigment inks – Coral Berry and Warm Sunshine. When combined they make a gorgeous peachy color! To finish my flowers I used my Must Have Gel Pen set – the gold of course! My sentiment is an all-time favorite of mine, Waterbrush Hello. If you haven’t checked this die out — take a look next time you are browsing in the shop. Gilded Glitter cardstock was used for my sentiment, my sub-sentiment comes from the Hello & Hugs stamp set. I embossed with embossing ink, Antique Gold embossing powder, and finally die-cut with the Featured Sentiments dies. The sub-sentiment was adhered with thin 3D foam squares, while the “hello” remained flat. That is another set to check out if you don’t have it in your stash. I thought I didn’t need them, and then…they are one of my favorites in my crafty space! Inspired by so many of my crafty friends, I went old school and trimmed my panel down to 4 X 5.25! I usually keep full A2 (4.25 x 5.50) panels in all of my projects, so it is nice to change it up a bit 🙂 The final step was to add foam tape to the embossed panel and adhere to my A2 card base.

As you may know, I am trying to work on creating more journal pages. I love to show you guys that you don’t have to make huge pages — you can get started small. My pages typically are 4.25 x 6.25 when I work with this size. You could totally create an A2 panel and fit it inside this page protector. I like to fill the whole space, so I match the size to the protector.

I began with the amazing new Checkered Diamonds 3D embossing folder. I know this is absolutely going to be a staple in my crafty space. It provides interest without taking away from your focal image or, can be a great focal point too! I used Spicy Yogurt cardstock and ran this through my die-cutting machine. The date, which is hard to see in the photo is stamped with Sand Dunes crisp dye ink. My chipboard sentiment comes from the Live Your Dream chipboard set.

I hope this page illustrates you don’t have to make super involved pages. It’s more about enjoying the process, having wonderful memories, and for me making something for me!

For my final project for this amazing release, I chose to use the Peony Sunshine 3D embossing folder. Originally I was going to color this with my artist markers. However, as things often do in my crafty space, plans change! I really wanted to share with you guys how you can make a beautiful card in five minutes or less! Do you ever get in a pinch and need a super quick card?? Keep this one in mind! As long as it took to emboss — card done!

I chose the Gold Splatter Navy Wide Washi. This has lived in my stash and not seen much use. I absolutely adore it, my favorite color is blue and it’s got gold! I simply adhered this to an A2 card panel made from Neenah Solar White Classic Crest #110 cardstock. I put it into my embossing folder and ran through the die-cutting machine, voila!

I really went back and forth about using a sentiment on this project and ultimately decided not to. I think if I were to add a sentiment I would use Bold Greetings. I couldn’t bear to cover up any of this gorgeous folder!
